Walls from aerated concrete and their construction technology

When erecting private houses intended for both temporary and permanent residence, they often put internal and external walls from aerated concrete. The use of this material allows you to reduce material, labor and temporary costs of building a house.

Select blocks and put the first row

We begin to prepare the foundation for aerated concrete

First, let’s pay attention to the nuances of buying this building material. Firstly, it is worth checking the geometry of the blocks — their facets should be precisely parallel to each other. In the event that the geometry is violated, work with them will noticeably complicate. Secondly, the blocks should not be fragile and crumble much. Thirdly, a gas concrete pallets should be packed in cellophane. This is very important, since «unprotected» blocks can be supplied with moisture.

What will be needed for laying aerated concrete walls? Before starting, you should purchase the following tools and building materials:

Waterproofing roll material (roofing material, waterproof, bicrost, etc. p.);

dry mixture;

special glue for blocks;

reinforcement;

trowel;

toothed spatula;

rubber kiyanka;

half a week or rubbish for aerated concrete blocks;

level;

hacksaw with a very large tooth.

In order to protect the first row of moisture blocks, first a waterproofing material is laid out on a base or foundation. In those places where the joints are obtained, it is necessarily laid, and the upper layer should go to the lower one by at least 15 cm.

Blocks at the construction site should be located as close to the place of construction of the house and covered with a packaging film.

The laying of the first row begins with the installation of blocks at the corners of the building. Regardless of what you will use for laying the remaining rows — a dry mix or special glue, the first is always placed on cement with sand. “Corner” marks are set in level, since they will set the plane of the other “bricks” in the row. In order to “plant” the block as smoothly as possible, it is launched by a rubber clay.

Since the blocks in the corners will serve as “beacons”, between them it is necessary to stretch the twine, which will become a guide for the rest of the “bricks”. After that, you can put the rest of the blocks, applying a mixture not only to the stacked waterproofing, but also to the faces adjacent to each other, also attacking them with a mallet and aligned by twine. When the row is almost completed, it may turn out that the distance between two neighboring blocks is less than the width of one “brick”. In this case, it will be necessary to saw off a piece of the corresponding size from the whole gas block, level the resulting line with a half -terrain and install the inventory in place.

Когда ряд будет уложен, его надо обработать тем же полутерком, а оставшуюся пыль — смести. The same actions will need to be repeated for each of the subsequent rows.

We continue the construction and device of walls from aerated concrete

Where to start laying walls from gas concrete

After the first row is laid out, you need to prepare the glue in accordance with the instructions specified by the manufacturer. Do not breed a significant amount of the mixture. The second row also begins to put from the corner, shifting the block by about 10 cm relative to the lower.

Glue is applied to the lower row of blocks, and on the end facets of new parts of aerated concrete “designer” using a cell and leveled with a gear spatula. The thickness of the seams when laying on glue should not exceed three millimeters. The remnants of the protruding glue are immediately removed by the cell.

When laying walls from this material, just as when laying foam blocks, you can not do without reinforcement. The location of the reinforcement is determined at the stage of designing the house depending on its size and other factors. Installation of reinforcing rods in this case is done exactly the same as when laying the aforementioned blocks from foam concrete. The thickness of the reinforcement should be at least 8 mm. In addition, it is necessary to reinforce both window and door jumpers, which are made from special U-shaped gas blocks.

Wall design — what to do after laying

For decoration of houses from such material, facing brick is used. However, its use must be taken into account at the stage of designing the house. Among other things, this means that the thickness of the foundation should be equal to the total thickness of 2-3 bricks. In addition, during the laying of the walls, binders are installed in them, which in the future will connect aerated concrete and bricks.

Also, a house made of aerated concrete “bricks” can be finished with siding — vinyl, metal or ceramic.
