Fireplace

You wanted to add an interior element like a fireplace to your room? Then this article will help choose the type suitable for you. There are three types of fireplace: wood, gas and electric.

Wood fireplace — the most traditional type of fireplace. This is the same fireplace in which the logs you tossed peacefully crackled. It consists of 3 parts: portal, chimney and furnace. But such a fireplace has a huge number of disadvantages, which is why it is now almost not used.

Among the shortcomings:

— the inability to install in the apartment;

— complexity in the structure;

— smoke partially enters the room;

— fire hazard, the need for constant observation.

Gas fireplace — much cheaper, easier in installation and safer than wood. The device is only a portal and a furnace, from which a pipe leads directly to the street. There is no need to install a bulky chimney. A gas burner is installed in the firebox controlled by an automatic system. The effect of living fire is given by special «eternal firewood» that imitate different wooden breeds.

This type is used in apartments where natural gas is carried out. However, there are also models working on gas cylinders.

Such fireplaces also have their drawbacks:

— The installation requires a permission of gas facilities;

— only specialists can be installed;

— high installation cost;

— The danger of an explosion, there is always the danger of an explosion when using natural gas or propane.

The last type of fireplaces is electric fireplace. This device is not a fireplace at all, but a kind of heater. It is a box with a glass front wall. Inside are decorative firewood. A fan is installed below, which lifts silk fabric shreds into the air. LEDs are located below so that pieces of fabric fluttering from the air flow look like the tongues of flame. Warm air goes into the room through special radiator grilles with the same stream.

Such a fireplace has several advantages over gas and wood:

— cheapness regarding other types of fireplace;

— A very simple installation process;

— the ability to work without heating air;

— safety;

— only connection to the 220V outlet is required.

With all this, he has the only drawback — the fire is inaccessible.
