Painting wooden windows

If during its operation the window frame lost its appearance, peeled off or changed color, do not immediately think about its replacement, it will be enough to restore it a little and paint it.

Window painting is a rather simple process, so it is quite accessible for independent performance. For the longest possible further operation of the frames in the process of repair work, it is necessary to use exclusively high -quality materials.

The most common means of protecting the frames of double -glazed windows is paint, which with high quality gives the window a complete look and beautiful color, and also perfectly protect it from various external influences. In order to independently conduct high -quality and for a long time, coloring must be selected correctly the optimal paint. For the repair of wooden windows, the paint should have such properties as moisture resistance, elasticity and the ability to withstand sunlight (since after a couple of years the paint can burn out, especially if the window is located on the sunny side of the house).

When repairing wooden windows, the outer part of the frame first must be treated with antiseptic impregnation. The surface for painting should be clean and dry. The optimal conditions for such work are a slightly cloud day, it is not recommended to paint the windows in the evening. So that the paint layers are well dried, and it does not lose the properties of protection, the air temperature should be more than +5 ° C.

Before proceeding to the process of painting windows, you need to very carefully clean the room of dirt and dust. This is necessary so that dust does not settle on the freshly painted surface, which can damage the layers of paint. It is also worth eliminating such common defects as, for example, broken accessories. Immediately before painting on the edge of the glass near the frame, you need to stick a painting tape, leave a gap of about two millimeters. This is necessary in order for the applied paint to cover the gap formed by the frame and glass, as this will provide the necessary protection of the tree from water flowing from the glasses. The tape from the glass is removed immediately after the end of the painting, without waiting until the paint dries. When working with wooden windows, especially increased attention should be paid to staining the ends, corners and other inaccessible places.

When working with a window, which was previously subjected to coloring, first you need to remove the old layers of paint using a scraper or spatula. The next step will be putty defects in the form of cracks. After the frame dries, it must be treated with sandpaper and removed the dust with a damp cloth. Next, the surface is primed, after which you can directly proceed to staining. For the process of work, you will need a number of documents, including painting brushes, spatula and scraper, painting tape and so on.
