So what is a niche and why it is needed? This is a recess in the surface of the wall. It performs a decorative or functional value. Most often, the niche is used for visual expansion or lengthening of space, the release of any zone. For example, it is very often made over the bed or in the living room. The resulting shelves are decorated with lamps and put various souvenirs or photos on them. Plus, they often help to hide any defects in the room.

For example, the place of former interior doors looks ugly. Decorative niches are made at this place. This allows not only to embellish the interior, but also to save money that would go to additional construction work. The niches also perform the functional value. They are made to put massive equipment, furniture items. For example, very often they are made for TV, music center.

Design of drywall in the bedroom — learning to correctly design the interior

How can you hide communications by a decorative niche

It is worth saying that the niche in the bedroom, bathroom or living room can be of two types:

Vertical;

horizontal.

The first allows you to highlight the height of the room. For example, next to a bulky chest of drawers or a closet, it is better to make a vertical niche. Horizontal, on the contrary, allows you to visually lengthen the space. All this should be taken into account when arranging the interior. If we talk about niches design, then there are two methods of their design. In the first case, they are finished with a contrasting way into several shades lighter or darker. This will highlight any zone.

For example, if the walls are beige, then the niches can be made slightly brown. The main thing is not to overdo it. It is undesirable to make too dark colors, as the so -called “holes” effect will appear. The second method of design involves painting niches in the same shade that have walls. Thus, they will look as natural and harmonious as possible. Also, niches can be finished not only with certain colors, but also by mosaics. Whole panels are very popular today, depicting various landscapes. You can choose the one that is most suitable for your interior and additionally «beat» it with light.

But remember that even the most ordinary plain plasters made of drywall with backlight are already good. And if you put beautiful figurines or souvenirs there, then they will be a real decorative space.

How to make drywall niches in various ways?

Before making a drywall niche with your own hands, it is important to draw up an installation plan, calculate the required amount of material. Then go to the store and purchase a metal profile, self -tapping screws, drywall, reinforcing tape, putty. And only then they start installing. There can be two ways to attach GKL. The first implies installation with a cool composition.

Second (more reliable) — fastening using a metal profile from which a frame is made on the wall. However, we will talk about everything in order. So, if you decide to mount the niches using a metal frame, then at the first stage they make markings on the wall. Next, a metal frame is mounted using various fasteners. The evenness of the application of profiles must be constantly checked by the usual level. After the frame is assembled, proceed to the installation of GKL sheets. They attach them to the profile using self -tapping screws.

The corners are fixed with corners, and the joints are specially aligned with a reinforcing tape. Further, the entire surface of the niche should be putty. And then polished. At the last stage, painting is carried out. LKM is better to choose environmentally friendly for this (it is extremely not advisable to use oil compounds). The best for this was recognized Acrylic paint. Bred it on the recipe described on the bank. Applied with a roller or brush. Further, the coating is given for some time to dry. Only after completely drying the niche can be put into operation!

Note! The process of drying the paint will pass much faster if there is the necessary temperature and humidity. The more dry and warm microclimate, the faster the paint will dry. And vice versa, the more dampness, the slower the process will pass.
